Coffee & Art: Bold, Bright, Brilliant – original prints by Alistair Grant

About

Coffee & Art: Bold, Bright, Brilliant – original prints by Alistair Grant. Coffee & Art is a partnership between Urban Ground Cafe and Emma Mason.

In celebration for the Turner Prize 2023 exhibition coming to Towner Eastbourne and the town, Eastbourne-based independent businesses Emma Mason and Urban Ground are collaborating on a project to show a selection of original prints from the Emma Mason Gallery in the beautiful Urban Ground coffee shops in central Eastbourne.

The walls of both Urban Ground coffee shops in Eastbourne, Bolton Road and South Street, will be filled with bold, bright original hand-made prints. The prints on display are the original screen prints made in the 1960s-80s by highly regarded printmaker Alistair Grant (1925-1997).

Grant taught printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London between 1970 -1990 and his work is held in many public collections in the UK and abroad. Established in Eastbourne in 2004 Emma Mason represents work by printmakers working in Britain from the 1940s onwards and this includes original prints and paintings by artist Alistair Grant.

Emma Mason has a gallery in Eastbourne town centre at 21 Lushington Lane, BN21 4LJ. All prints exhibited at Urban Ground will be available to buy from Emma Mason at emmamason.co.uk

Established in Eastbourne back in 2011, Urban Ground is a pioneer of great coffee in Eastbourne and has two venues in the town centre. In November they celebrated 12 years since opening their first coffee shop in Eastbourne.
