Get Ready to Welcome Summer at Beach Life Music & Food Festival
19th June 2024
Eastbourne seafront will be transformed into a fiesta of live music and mouthwatering street food on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July, as Beach Life Music Festival returns to the town.
A holiday vibe is guaranteed as this free, family-friendly event returns, this time to its new Bandstand location, at the heart of Eastbourne prom. With beach summer vibes, this is the un-official start of summer in Eastbourne!
Live music is happening all weekend from local bands and singer songwriters, alongside stalls featuring all types of goodies stretching along the promenade with an assortment of freshly cooked food. Plus there’s face painting for kids, a Mini car club display, tri-athletes competing at Ironbourne, and a stocked bar - good times are guaranteed.
The music line-up features a wide range for all musical tastes including quirky English folk pop with Hector and Gavan, hard hitting rock riffs from No Flowers, charismatic performer Ben Maier and pop punk musician Stan H from Eastbourne, all scheduled to appear on Saturday.
Up and coming singer songwriter Calzy, also joins the Saturday line-up with his latest single ‘This Is It’. The talented 18 year old performed for BBC Introducing’s Live Lounge last year and more recently to a sold out crowd at BBC’s Discover Live.]
Sunday’s line-up includes established favourites The Equatorial Group, singer songwriter Poppy Rockett from Hastings, new wave alternative pop from The Human Output, plus Woon a band who blend their love of American indie, grunge and nineties slacker rock with serious pop sensibilities. Local band The Veltmans, also featured on BBC Introducing Live Lounge, will close the festival with their sound inspired by indie rock and blues guitar.
With street food stalls offering a tantalising tour of the world, a range of temptations will include sunshine on a plate paella and tender American BBQ brisket and pork belly with the ultimate USA side of mac and cheese! Plus artisan burgers, Thai specialities, Mexican and vegan options too – foodies will be spoilt for choice.
Alongside the live music, festival-goers can also enjoy a spot of shopping at the Seafront Market all weekend, and Bexhill Mini Club will be displaying a range of colourful, classic Mini’s for car lovers on the Wish Tower Slopes on Saturday. On Sunday, Ironbourne hosts the British Middle Distance Triathlon Championships, bringing top triathletes to the Western Lawns, beach and prom.
An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesperson said, “This event really showcases the wonderful location Eastbourne is so blessed with, a fusion of food, live music and more right in the heart of Eastbourne seafront. Beach Life Music and Food Festival marks the start of what is sure to be a sensational summer of live music and events.”
No ticket is required for the music festival during the day – just turn up! Once Beach Life wraps up proceedings for the day the party continues with tickets available for the Bandstand’s seasonal tribute shows, Spice Girls tribute act Viva 4 Ever on Saturday night and Simply Red tribute act Red Mick on Sunday evening – tribute show tickets are available from EastbourneBandstand.co.uk.
