Top Airbourne Tip: Head to the beach and pick a spot to watch the displays, but don’t go too close to the water or you might have to move if the tide is coming in!

Why not carry on the plane related fun at home with Ace and Aimee’s favourite biscuit recipe.
Ingredients
200g unsalted butter
200g golden caster sugar (normal sugar will also work if you don’t have caster sugar)
1 large egg
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
400g plain flour, plus extra for dusting
OR Vegan/Vegetarian Ingredients – just as yummy!
200g vegan margarine, room temperature
100g soft brown sugar/golden caster sugar or white caster sugar for blonde biscuits
300g plain flour
HOW TO…
Get an adult to do the boring bits involving the oven and electric whisk if you’re using that, but make sure they DON’T get involved with the fun bits – like making a bit of a mess while creating your biscuit treats!
BORING BIT: Adult – heat oven to 200c/180c fan/gas mark 6.
FUN BIT:
STEP 1: Line a baking sheet with baking parchment. Stick the butter/margarine in a big bowl and beat it with a wooden spoon (or electric whisk – get an adult to help with this if you’re using) smash it all up until it’s soft and creamy then add in the sugar, egg (if using) mix all together and then add the flour. You can even squish it all together with your fingers (best to clean them first, you’ll DEFINITELY need to clean them after!). You should have a dough now, if it feels sticky add a little more flour and knead it with your hands.
STEP 2: Pull off pieces off the dough and roll it out until it’s about as thick as 2 pound coins put together, then comes another fun bit! Create some shapes – use whatever you have, cookie cutters are best but you can get creative and make some plane shapes by some careful cutting using a butter knife (NOT a sharp knife!). If you just want to get on with getting your biscuits cooked and don’t have time for that, or any cookie cutters, just use an upturned cup to cut out a circle shape! Make sure you use all your dough up and any leftovers just squish together. You can add chocolate chips or other decorations here if you like.
STEP 3: Carefully transfer the shapes to the baking tray and get an adult to pop it into the over for around 8 – 10 minutes, just until the edges start to go golden. When done, and this is the hard bit, LEAVE them for 5 minutes before scoffing. If you have any left at the end they will keep for up-to 3 days in a tin.
How far can your plane fly? See if you can make yours go further than anyone else’s. All you need is a piece of paper!
Step 1: Fold your piece of paper in half vertically to make a centre fold.
Step 2: Unfold your your paper, take the top two corners and fold them into the centre fold. This will make the point which acts as the nose of your plane.
Step 3: With the top two corners folded down into a point, fold your piece of paper back at the centre fold. You should be left with a piece of paper folded in the middle with one long straight line and a short diagonal line on the other side.
Step 4: Take each edge of the paper and fold down to meet the centre fold. Once the edges have been folded, creased and let go they should resemble to wings of your plane.
Step 5: Grab stickers, pencils or paints and decorate your plane! Will you take inspiration from the Red Arrows, the Typhoon or make up your own design? Top tip: don't glue any embellishments to your plane like gem stones as this will affect how it flies.
Step 6: Give your paper plane a test flight and see how far you can throw it!
