‘Magical’ Events at Devonshire Quarter Conference Venue
7th October 2022
What do Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time, the Brotherhood of Magicians and Women’s Institute have in common?
The answer is that they all have hosted events at the Welcome Building and other venues within Eastbourne’s Devonshire Quarter, which encompasses the Winter Garden, Welcome Building with its conference halls, and Locker Room.
So far this year events have included Bible by the Beach, a Performing Arts Festival, the Mayor’s Charity Ball, and conferences from East Sussex Women’s Institute, Catenian Association, English Bridge Union and Campaign for Real Ale.
This summer, Radio 4 recorded two episodes of Gardeners’ Question Time and broadcast The Kitchen Cabinet from the Welcome Building.
In the coming months, the venues will welcome more conferences in addition to charity balls, Christmas Party Nights, and other events.
Eastbourne Borough Council’s Commercial & Operations Director at the Devonshire Quarter, Annie Wills said, “Eastbourne is a vibrant and flourishing destination and with a spectacular seafront, beautiful buildings, integrated facilities, an abundance of cafes, restaurants, shops and excellent transport links, it’s easy to see why it’s a popular choice for conferences.
“Our Conference Eastbourne team are working hard to spread the message that Eastbourne is THE place to be for conferences and corporate events where delegates can enjoy the fantastic experience that being in Eastbourne will provide.
“As well as the refurbished Congress Theatre and Winter Garden, we have the Welcome Building with flexible exhibition and conference space, a new public plaza and ramped access, Eastbourne Town Hall, the International Tennis Centre and the Locker Room, a popular multi-functional space.”
