Eastbourne Borough Council work pro-actively in our approach to sustainability at all of our events including Eastbourne Walking Festival. We strive to ensure that sustainability is at the forefront of our decision making as opposed to being an afterthought. Eastbourne Walking Festival brings a significant number of people into our town over the course of ten days and we try our best to make our event carbon friendly.
Single Use Plastics & Recycling
We work closely with our food and drink vendors and other traders to encourage them to avoid the use of single use plastics (SUPs) at our events. We also work with Eastbourne Borough Council's Neighbourhood First team to minimise our wastage and ensure our recycling is effectively processed.
Eastbourne Carbon Neutral 2030
Eastbourne Borough Council announced a carbon emergency in 2019 and pledged to be carbon neutral by 2030. A group of over 200 volunteers have been set up under the collaborative umbrella of the Eastbourne Eco Action Network. Take a look at their website to find out more about what they are doing.
Public Transport
One of the biggest emissions of carbon into the environment during our events is from the vehicles of those who are travelling into the event. We actively encourage utilising the public transport on offer to get to our event, and in doing so, doing your bit for the environment.
