25th March 2019
Eastbourne’s classic motor vehicle extravaganza, Magnificent Motors pulls up into town on 4-5 May, with over 600 vintage cars, buses, motorbikes and more on display over the weekend of the free motoring festival.
From stylish Jaguars and fancy Ferraris to old-school Austins and marvellous Maseratis, there’ll be a wide range of classics on show at the Western Lawns with cars from 1900 right the way through to the electric and hybrid vehicles of today.
Classic enthusiasts should look out for a Brush Runabout dating from 1910 and a 1925 Ford Model T plus fans of the modern motoring age can admire a Porsche 911 and Bentley Continental amongst many others.
This year, there will also be a new area of the show dedicated to the ‘Cars of the Future’ where motor dealerships will be displaying a variety of electric and hybrid vehicles and will be on hand to advise visitors about how to make the switch to alternative fuel technologies.
Kicking off with a seafront Parade of Motors each morning at 10am, hundreds of eye-catching motors will line the seafront from Fort Fun to the Western Lawns, before exhibiting on the seafront lawns.
Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “We are delighted that so many vintage vehicle owners and enthusiasts will once again be polishing their motors and bringing them down to the Western Lawns for this popular motoring show. This year there will be prizes awarded to those owners who fully embrace the spirit of the day and come dressed up reminiscent of the era of their vehicle!
There’ll be plenty of nostalgic fun to be had for all with the chance to nose under a few car bonnets, browse the seafront market and enjoy some live music, all making for a superb event the whole family will enjoy.”
With over 40 different car clubs, petrol heads can look out for Aston Martins, BMWs, Jaguars and American classics. Also on display will be a variety of buses from the post-war era, ‘Florrie the Lorry’ from local brewery, Harvey’s, who will also be bringing along their traditional horse and dray on the Sunday.
Show sponsor A-Plan Insurance, will be on hand with the chance to win the ultimate kids 12v ride on Ferrari, featuring mp3 connection, lights, pedal and even parental controls.
The perfect accompaniment to the festival will be the variety of musical acts performing on the entertainment stage providing the soundtrack to the vintage weekend. Featuring The Kiffs, Zachary Dogwood, Elephant Radio, Cracks in the Land and many more, the Live Music Stage caters for all tastes from jazz, blues and swing to glam rock, funk and indie-pop. Music starts at 11.15am each day and continues through to the close of the festival at 5.00pm.
Fine food and drinks will be available throughout the day, including locally brewed beers from Harvey’s Hop Bar and delicious food from the Seafront Market on the promenade.
