Devonshire Quarter Strikes Gold and Silver at Tourism Awards

The Devonshire Quarter struck gold at the Beautiful South Awards last night after collecting the top award for Eastbourne Visitor Centre - followed just a few moments later with silver for the DQ Terrace Bar & Café.
Picking up the top spot just 18 months since relocating to the Devonshire Quarter, Eastbourne Visitor Centre collected gold in the Visitor Information Service of the Year 2021/22 category, despite tough competition from Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays.
The award recognises visitor information providers which offer an exceptional standard of service along with appropriate information and innovative use of digital technology.
The awards success continued with silver for the DQ Terrace Bar & Café in the Taste of the South East Award, which celebrates the best cafes, restaurants and hotel dining in the south east.
The silver award follows a ‘commended’ award last year, with establishments assessed for service innovation and excellence, alongside a mouth-watering and inclusive menu.
The prestigious awards, run by Tourism South East, celebrate the best that the south east has to offer, with gold winners automatically put forward into the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
This is the second year in a row that the Devonshire Quarter has stuck gold, winning the Business Events Venue of the Year category last year.
Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “We’re over the moon to receive not one, but two awards from this prestigious event. We are committed to a high quality service at the Devonshire Quarter and are delighted by the judges response to what we offer our customers.
This is a superb achievement for our hard working staff and a testament to the progress we have made in creating an outstanding conference, sporting and cultural venue here in the south east.”
Both the Eastbourne Visitor Centre and DQ Terrace Bar & Café can be found in the Welcome Building at the Devonshire Quarter. In recent months Eastbourne Visitor Centre has added a bookshop to its offering, selling a curated selection of books.
The DQ Terrace Bar & Café is open 9am – 4pm and Eastbourne Visitor Centre is open 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday (both open 10am – 4pm Sundays).
Visitors, residents and theatre goers can pop in and chat to the staff for expert knowledge of the local area, and also pick up theatre and event tickets, bus tickets, gifts, books and much more.
