Events Resume at Eastbourne’s Stage Door Pub
30th September 2021
A full line-up of events has resumed at Eastbourne’s Stage Door Pub.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, many of the popular regular events had to be postponed, but Quiz Nights, Jazz Nights and Open Mic Nights are all now back on.
And there is also a packed programme of entertainment for the autumn and winter months with live music and a Halloween Party. In addition, the pub is also now dog friendly.
Quiz Nights take place at the Compton Street venue on the first Tuesday of every month from 7.30pm. Participants can test their general knowledge and entry is just £2 per person with cash prizes to be won.
Jazz Nights are held on the last Thursday of the month at 8pm and among the guests booked to appear in the coming months are Tom Fitzpatrick, Lucy Pickering and The Jazz Groove Collective.
Entry is free and booking a table is strongly advised.
Open Mic Nights with Mike Fillery return on Thursday 14 October from 8pm onwards, and a special Jazz & Blues Jam Night hosted by Duncan and Roger makes its debut on Thursday 11 November, featuring a back line of drums, guitar and bass, with PA. Keen musicians should bring their own instrument, and their own microphone if needed for vocals, for Covid safety reasons.
All acts are welcome and there is a drink for all performers who take to the stage.
Kicking off the autumn programme of live music is Sound of the Crowd, one of Eastboune’s most popular 80s music bands, from 7.30pm on Friday 1 October.
At the end of the month – on Saturday 30 October – the pub will host a Halloween Party.
Entry is free and people are encouraged to come along in fancy dress. There will be a prize for the best costume as well as themed cocktails and music will be provided by The Watson Brothers from 7.30pm onwards.
The popular theatre pub on the old Buccaneer Public House site offers an exclusive range of food and drinks not available anywhere else in town including craft beers, guest gins, homemade specials and family friendly menus.
During the week there are also special offers on with deals on burgers and beers and fish and chips.
Eastbourne Borough Council’s lead member for tourism and enterprise Margaret Bannister said, “After the difficult last 18 months we have had, we are very excited to announce that events have now resumed at the Stage Door.
“Quiz nights, Jazz nights and Open Mic Nights are back and there are other events coming soon such as Sound of the Crowd playing live and a Halloween Party.
“The pub is very much a community venue and the events have a strong following. The Stage Door is also now dog friendly so your furry friends can join you for a drink.
“Despite Covid-19 restrictions being relaxed, we want to encourage our customers to wear face masks if they wish.
“Hand sanitiser is still available around the pub and our staff will be making sure they’re doing their upmost to keep everyone safe within our environment and keeping a very high level of cleanliness.”
