Eastbourne’s 999 Emergency Services Display Returns After Two Year Break
28th June 2022
Eastbourne’s 999 Emergency Services Display returns to the seafront Western Lawns this weekend for the first time since 2019.
The annual free festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, and will return from 2 – 3 July with a wide range of blue light services providing exciting demonstrations and things to see and do for all the family.
From CPR resuscitation, firefighting and police dog demonstrations to cliff line rescues and a road traffic collision, there will be a range of demonstrations to see the emergency services in action, and youngsters can try out equipment, climb aboard emergency vehicles and try out their aim with a real live fire hose.
Featuring teams from Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Maritime & Coastguard Agency, RNLI, Network Rail and British Transport Police, the event is also supported by Eastbourne Borough Council.
Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Member for Tourism & Culture, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “This is a perfect opportunity for budding young firefighters, cadets, paramedics and more to discover more about our brilliant first responders and have a go at some fun activities too.
After the extreme pressures of the Covid pandemic over the last two years, there is no better time to celebrate and applaud the amazing work of our blue light heroes, so please do come along and meet the teams for yourself for a fascinating day out.”
The 999 Emergency Services Display is open from 10.30am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday on the Western Lawns, with an opening ceremony at 11am on Saturday. Entry is free with catering, trade stalls and children’s rides also available on site.
