Exciting New Workshops at Eastbourne’s Beachy Head Story
11th July 2022
The Beachy Head Story is hosting several exciting workshops this summer for those wanting to discover more about the stunning Downland landscape.
From a phone photography workshop to landscape writing, the activities offer something for all ages.
The first event – Story and Fossil session - is on Sunday 10 July at the Beachy Head Story on Beachy Head Road and is for 5 to 10-year-olds.
Youngsters will be able to find out what’s beneath their feet through a story session and look at fossils to find out how they turned up on our beaches. Booking is essential and the cost is £2.50 for the session which runs from 10.45am-12pm.
A Landscape Writing session takes place on Monday 11 July from 10.30am-12pm when visitors will be able to look down through layers of geological time to consider the origins of the Downs.
No experience is necessary but once again booking is essential and those attending are advised to bring a notebook and pen. The cost is £5 per person.
Professional photographer Maxine Monaghan will lead the Phone Photography Workshop: Walk and Snap on Wednesday 13 July from 1.30pm-3pm.
Attendees will learn how to create a narrative with photograph and the session is accessible to anyone with a camera on their phone. No experience is necessary. Booking is required and the cost is £5 per person.
The activities are all run by Heritage Eastbourne and the Beachy Head Story exhibition, which has become a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
More than 30,000 people have visited the Beachy Head Story in the last year and this year visitor numbers are already up by 50 per cent.
The exhibition is open daily from 10am-5pm and there is also a gift shop selling local produce, sustainably made gifts and local photography and artwork.
